The red cross on the bow of the key defines the unit's mission of medical and dental service. The key also accentuates the unit's motto "KEY TO HEALTH" and emphasizes the important preventative aspects of a DENTAC's activities. The anchor represents the unit's location in Bremerhaven, a major port city in Germany. The starburst is in reference to outstanding quality of care and service.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 10 Feb 1981.
